Kevin Selfe • Lisa Mann • Jimi Bott
For this show, the theater will be clearing space up front for dancing, and the music will be geared more for dancers. This is a rare opportunity to see Kevin and Lisa perform together as they are usually out fronting their own bands.
A native of Roanoke, VA, Kevin Selfe learned to play the blues by watching the masters that lived and traveled through the area. Having combined this influence with his own distinct style, Selfe developed a swampy, primal sound that is reminiscent of humid, summer evenings in the rural South. He relocated to Portland, OR in 2007 where he is now a leading light in the Pacific Northwest’s robust blues revival. Selfe is a two time inductee into the Cascade Blues Association Hall of Fame for Electric Guitar and Traditional Blues Act, and his band, Kevin Selfe and The Tornadoes, has received prestigious Muddy Awards for Blues Act of the Year eight times. His recordings on world renowned blues labels Delta Groove and Vizztone have landed on the Billboard Blues Chart and have been featured on SiriusXM radio.
Lisa Mann is the 2015 and 2016 Blues Music Award Winner for Instrumentalist - Bass, as well as the 2014 Blues Blast Sean Costello Rising Star Award Winner. Her vocals effortlessly straddle the line between the honey sweet warmth of the south, and the force-of-nature sound Mann has cultivated by mastering everything from hard rock to rhythm and blues. Her clever blues balladry is complimented by her considerable prowess on bass guitar. Her bass grooves touch on the hallowed soil of soul greats James Jamerson and Bob Babbitt.
Jimi has one of the most impressive resumes around as he has spent nearly three decades touring the world with The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Mannish Boys, Rod Piazza, and Mark Hummel. He has nearly 90 recordings to his credit including releases from William Clarke, Billy Boy Arnold, and James Harman. He is the 2015 Blues Music Award Winner for Drummer of the Year, and has won the Cascade Blues Association's Muddy Award for drums so many times they have named the award after him.
