Opening act: Scott Crandall
Dave Fleschner brings “The Blues Cabaret” back to the Lake Theatre on July 17th. Fleschner, who has performed with B.B. King, The Pointer Sisters, Steve Miller and who has toured with internationally with Curtis Salgado, John Nemeth, Karen Lovely and Earl Thomas - brings his unique perspective on the Blues in this original production. The tunes span the gamut of blues styles - from old time swing to modern funk - and the show is guaranteed to elicit a range of emotional responses from the heartfelt songwriting. In Cabaret style, there are also a variety of singers.
Billy Mixer, an impressive Nashville session singer and frequent soloist with the Portland Gay Men’s Choir, will belt out his inner Patty LaBette.
Laura Berman adds a touch of sweetness to The Blues Cabaret. She has performed with Grammy Award Winner, Enya on the David Letterman show, and has reached acclaim for her honest and soul-touching vocal power.
Composer Scot Crandal will be performing some of his original tunes as a special guest with “The Blues Cabaret.” His past and upcoming commissions include well-known musical organizations such as Trinity Cathedral, Coulter Concert Series, Portland Gay Men's Chorus, and Grant High School. His recently completed album, Now & Again,
is made up of 11 new jazz songs especially suited for singers of The Great American Songbook.
His extensively-published sacred compositions are popular among music directors and have appeared in numerous publications and hymnals. Scot also produces music for film, tv, and video including recent work for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Find out more about Scot's projects and background at: www.scotcrandal.com
