Four Trains Runnin' is a Muddy Waters Tribute show that features four internationally acclaimed blues musicians who relish in the performance of old school traditional blues. Featuring the songs of Muddy Waters and his influences performed in their original style. This show's artists have accepted many Muddy Awards over their lifetime. Alan Hager on guitar, Mitch Kashmar on harmonica, Jimi Bott on drums, and Dean Mueller on bass.
The leader of the show is perennial Muddy Award Winner for Best Electric Guitar, Alan Hager. Alan is well known as a master of traditional finger picking guitar and has played in a duo with Curtis Salgado for over a decade performing songs by Muddy Waters and his contemporaries. As a educator, performer, and a lifelong student of the music and life of Muddy Waters, Alan will be sharing with the audience both the music and the history of this great blues legend.
A Muddy Waters shows is not the same without harmonica, and filling the shoes of the great Little Walter will be the perennial Muddy Award winner for Best Harmonica, Delta Groove recording artist and multi-BMA nominee Mitch Kashmar. Mitch has toured the world and shared the stage with some of the most influential blues musicians including John Lee Hooker, Big Joe Turner, Eddie 'Cleanhead' Vinson, Lowell Fulson, Jimmy Witherspoon and many others. Mitch Kashmar also sings many songs for this act and is one of the most soulful and powerful blues singers in the business today, black or white; his blues harp playing is second to none for creativity, drive and excitement.
The 2015 International Blues Drummer of the year Award went to Portland's own, Jimi Bott. An award he has been nominated for a record 19 times. Jimi has received so many CBA Best Drummer Muddy Awards that they named the awards after him and is a member of the Hall of Fame. With over 90 CD's in his discography and a member of some of the greatest traditional blues bands, including The Fabulous Thunderbirds and The Mannish Boys, there is no one better or more qualified in the world to bring the old school blues drumming to this show.
Finally, on the upright bass will be the multi Muddy Award winning Dean Mueller. Dean was a founding member of the 2008 BMA nominee for Best New Act, The Insomniacs. As a faculty member at Port Townsend Blues workshop, Dean has had the opportunity to play upright bass with many of the blues greats including Louisiana Red, Cephas & Wiggins, John Dee Holman, Rich Delgrosso, and many more. As one of the dwindling few who still play blues on the doghouse, he will deliver the blues bass as it was originally conceived.
