Lake Theater & Cafe brings you an opportunity to experience live original music at its best – with the songs, stories and strategies behind them from the songwriters themselves. This intimate and wonderful show features AJ Fullerton from Colorado along with Northwest-based musicians Steve Itterly, Lisa Mann, Rae Gordon and Pat McDougall performing and speaking. It will have you appreciating the passion behind the prose.
AJ Fullerton is a young multi-award winning roots and rock guitarist and songwriter that is fast making fans all over the world from his authentic style, busy touring schedule including the Big Blues Bender and lyrics that get right to the heart of the matter. He was raised in rural Colorado and is well-known for his skillful guitar, and powerful vocals and is often called "Beyond his years". His playing style falls somewhere between the finger picking & slide of Country Roots music and the groove based up-tempo sensibilities of Hill County & Delta Blues. His awards have includes the Colorado Blues Society Members' Choice Awards, best guitarist, best vocals, songwriter and recording, among others.
Steve Itterly is an accomplished guitarist from Washington State (and apparently didn’t provide a bio).
Lisa Mann hails from blues-soaked Portland, Oregon where she is as known for her voice as her songwriting talent. Her voice effortlessly straddles the line between the honey-sweet warmth of the South and the force-of-nature sound she's cultivated by mastering everything from rock and roll to Memphis soul. Her clever blues balladry is complimented by her considerable prowess on bass guitar, with grooves that touch on the hallowed soil of James Jamerson and Bob Babbitt. She writes the majority of her recorded material, and her songs paint pictures of a gritty (and sometimes humorous) personal experience in life, love and the not-always-pretty music business. Her awards include BMAs, Blues Blast Award Winner- Sean Costello Rising Star, Cascade Blues Association Hall of Fame, among others.
Pat McDougall has performed with a long list of bands and artists, including his own blues/R&B outfits Runaway Train and Tall Static. He was the musical director for the Portland-based band supporting Tony Coleman (B.B. King’s drummer for many years), and a member of the Muddy Award-winning lineup of Bill Rhoades & The Party Kings. These days, in addition to the Rae Gordon Band, Pat can be heard playing with Fenix Rising, the Dept. Of R&B, Lisa Mann and others. Pat has composed music for commercials, independent films, theatrical productions and corporate presentations; his compositions have won recognition from the Portland Music Association and Keyboard magazine.
