If you love blues, soul, and gospel, then you need to be introduced to Missy Andersen and her "One Man Band," husband Heine Andersen. Originally from Queens NY, with a father from South Carolina and a mother from Detroit, Missy sings in the languages of southern blues and Motor City soul, and all dialects in between. Guitarist Heine ("high-nuh") hails from Denmark, but is well versed in American roots music and needs no drummer to keep a steady blues beat. Missy's rich earthy voice has earned her two Blues Music Award nominations for Soul Blues Female Artist, as well as nominations for a Blues Blast Award and multiple San Diego Blues Awards. Missy and Heine travel the world as a duo, yet will grace the stage in Lake Oswego's Lake Theater & Cafe for the very first time on Monday August 12th.
Sharing the stage is Portland's own Lisa Mann Trio. Lisa has won two coveted Blues Music Awards for her bass playing, as well as Blues Blast's Sean Costello Rising Star Award, and is in the Hall of Fame of the Cascade Blues Association. Originally from West Virginia, Mann's voice effortlessly straddles the line between the honey sweet warmth of the South, and the force-of-nature sound Mann has cultivated by mastering everything from rock to blues to Memphis soul. Blues Music Magazine's Michael Kinsman says Lisa is "a fine bass player and an even better singer."
The show starts chill, with Missy and her One Man Band, then heats up with a set from the Lisa Mann Trio. Then the night finishes with an explosive set, with all artists taking the stage at once... it's a slow burn that will take you on an increasingly intense musical journey.
